Caden is now 11 years old. Well 11 and a half. :) He started Middle School this year and I can't help but wonder where the time has gone. Caden is still very much the little boy that I met when Michael and I got together but so much more grown up. Maybe the shock of his now being almost as tall as I am has something to do with this.
Most of the time Caden sits up front in the car with me as my little navigator. We talk about life, we study music (mostly my broadening his horizons) and hold hands while I drive. He really likes this even if he probably wouldn't let me do it with his friends around. Cade is such a tender little boy. I worry about certain things with him that are out of my control but he knows how much I love him. We're peeps. :)
Caden has become the best big brother. I wish I had a big brother like him. He just adores his little sister and brother. He often takes care of them and reads to them. They think he is the coolest. I hope that they always have a relationship especially with the age difference. They don't go to school together or hang out with the same friends but I hope that they always find space and time to reconnect as they get older. Being a step family is tough business (especially for Caden - he has 6 siblings) but you would never be able to tell that they are step anything and for that, I am eternally grateful.
